2025 Outlook – Cherry Creek and Chatfield are both brood lakes for walleyes and consistently produce really good walleye fishing year-round, lots of 16-18 inch walleyes roam these lakes with a chance a fish over 26 inches. Both also have good trout and crappie fishing. Chatfield has the added opportunity for both smallmouth and largemouth bass up to that 5 lb range.
- Spring (March-May) – April provides good walleye action – Chatfield is more of a night trolling bite and Cherry Creek is a basin daytime trolling bite. The walleye bite continues to be good through at the spring at both with presentations changing as the fish move locations. Trout fishing during the spring is good at both. Bass fishing at Chatfield starts getting good in May.
- Summer (June-Aug) – The walleye bite remains good through the summer months. The bass fishing is solid through the entire summer. The trout bite at Cherry Creek slows but still good at Chatfield. Panfishing can really get good during the summer. Remember we only run weekday trips during the summer months.
- Fall (Sept-Nov) – Fall produces some of the biggest fish of the year at both lakes. Walleyes on reaction baits and trolling. The smallmouth are putting on the feed bag. Trout fishing picks up again in October at both lakes. The perch fishing at Chatfield can be stellar in October and November.
